AAAA Records
What is an AAAA resource record? What function do AAAA records have? Should you really include one to your domain?
Every device which is connected to the web has a unique identifier known as IP (Internet Protocol) address. This includes computer systems, web servers, smart phones, switches, etcetera. The pool of addresses, which was introduced originally, has already been distributed, therefore the so-called IPv4 IP addresses are steadily getting replaced with IPv6 addresses. Every domain that opens an internet site has an IP record, which is the address of the server where it's hosted. Using the IPv4 system, the record is called A and it consists of four sets of numbers from 1 to 255 separated with a dot, while within the IPv6 system it is called AAAA and it consists of eight groups of hexadecimal numbers i.e. this type of records use numbers from 0 to 9 and letters from A to F. An example of an AAAA record is 2010:0c48:43d3:2142:1012:8c3a:2475:2435 and this format can handle a substantially bigger amount of IPs compared with the IPv4 format.

AAAA Records in Hosting
If you want to use a domain name or a subdomain you have in a
hosting account on our end for any third-party service and you need to set up an AAAA record for that, it will not take you more than just a few clicks to do that using our effective, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel. After you navigate to the DNS Records section and click on the Create a New Record button, a compact pop-up will appear. This is the area where you could create any DNS record, so you just have to pick the needed domain or subdomain and the type of record through drop-down menus and enter the IPv6 address, that is the actual record. If you happen to have zero experience with such matters, you won't have any issues as Hepsia is quite intuitive and your new AAAA record will propagate within the hour, so you can start using your domain/subdomain with the other service provider. Provided they demand it, you will also be able to edit the Time To Live (TTL) value for the record, outlining how long it'll stay active in the global DNS system after you edit it or remove it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Setting up a new AAAA record is quite easy using our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain name inside a
semi-dedicated server account from our company and you need such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you have set up under it, you will be able to create it in just a few rather simple steps and without any hassle. Hepsia has a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain names in which you can find all current records or set up new ones with a couple of mouse clicks. All it takes to do that is to select the domain/subdomain that you would like to edit, select AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and input the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address that the other service provider has given you. Within an hour after you save the change, the new record is going to propagate worldwide and your domain address will start forwarding to the third-party hosting server. If they require it, you may also edit the TTL value, which indicates the time this record will be working with its current value before a new one takes over if you make any modifications in the future.
